Drawing a parallel with the Chinese literati group,my works marry prose with subjective memories and an abstracted, fragmented distillation of thelandscape. The resulting narrative is my attempt to embed myself within this landscape.
I am fascinated by our tendency to processunfamiliar scenarios or cultures in the manner of a character in a story in order to both reassureourselves and find our place. We romanticise sense of nostalgia over even the most mundaneof events. These works, steeped in potential storylines both past and present, attempt topictorialize the potentially self-indulgent aspects of working on a residency
