DR IAIN ROBERTSON: AN EVENING LECTURE

Dr Robertson, Head of Art Business Studies at the Sotheby’s Institute, will be discussing Chinese contemporary art from 1980 to the present day, with a special emphasis on the work of the artists featured in the Red Mansion’s current exhibition, “The Tales of Angels”.

Artist Richard Wentworth, who has travelled to China with The RMF as part of its ongoing cultural exchange programme ‘Building Bridges’ will talk to Joshua Jiang, contributor to the Saatchi Gallery’s inaugural exhibition, “New Art From China: The Revolution Continues” about his experiences of working as an artist in China.

CHINA LIVE: HANS ULRICH OBRIST PRESENTATIONS OF
CONTEMPORARY PERFORMANCES, ACTIONS AND FILMS

The Red Mansion Foundation has the pleasure to invite you to a lecture by Hans Ulrich Obrist on Contemporary Chinese art.

The acclaimed Swiss curator, writer and critic has worked extensively on contemporary Chinese culture and is the co-curator of the 2nd Guangzhou Triennial.

The Lecture will be held on 28 October at 7.30pm at the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington, Cromwell Road, London SW7 2RL

The Lecture is part of China Friday Late, an exciting evening focusing on contemporary Chinese art with a diverse programme with live performances by some of China’s most exciting artists, as well as films, discussions, music and food.

The China Friday Late is part of the V&A Friday Late programme and coincides with the exhibition Between Past and Future: New Photography and Video from China. The exhibition features several Red Mansion artists.

Amongst others there will be performances by: Zhu Ming who will immerse himself in a giant bubble.

The audience is invited to join the open dialogue, which will offer insight into the challenges and rewards of collecting art from China, the future of the contemporary Chinese art scene and its very special dynamics.
